How do you heel?
This past week I found myself making a trip to Winners, which is the Canadian equivalent of Target or TJ Maxx, only with some slightly higher-end stuff thrown in. Winners is, essentially, the best thing ever. Some of my all-time favorite articles of clothing were found during euphorically marathon shopping sessions there, and let's not even get into their fabulous homewares section. But I digress. The point of this post is to discuss a pair of shoes I found at Winners last week.
Occasionally I'll unearth footwear by Irregular Choice,
a brand I absolutely LOVE, in the size eight aisle. On this particular excursion, I came across a pair of black round-toe IC pumps embellished with gold embroidery. They were extremely cute, but I noticed that they had one unusual feature: the heel was positioned very oddly far forward. Below is a picture to give you an idea of what I mean:

At first I thought that the heel placement might be some fantastically flattering flash of brilliance that had been dreamed up by the brilliant minds at IC, sort of like how sky-high, sharply-angled wedges make your feet seem tiny. But after trying the shoes on and seeing how they looked, I'd have to say that not only is the overall effect strange, it also messes with your balance in unexpected ways. I didn't really feel comfortable in them, so they went back on the shelf. Conclusion: please return the heel on my pumps to where it belongs. Thank you.
(I still love Irregular Choice, though.)
File under: shoes.
