Red Shoes |
Nothing says "spring" like a fun pair of red pumps, wedges, or platforms. Don't
be put off by how bright they are - you can wear these shoes with almost any color
(if your overall look is fashion-forward) or you can pair them with khaki, grey,
black, or crisp white for a more classic vibe.

Melissa Shoes - $80.00 These somehow strike us as
being a little bit Swiss. Their ultra-rounded shape and fuzzy red suede have completely
won us over. |

Aquatalia by Marvin K. Boots in Wasabi - $198.95
Haven't you always secretly wanted a pair of shiny red rain boots to splash around
in? Very cool (and dry) with a pair of skinny black pants. |

Madison Harding Closed Toe Canvas Wedge - $220.00
A thoroughly modern wedge with great thread piping to spice up the look. Flawless
with capris or a short skirt. |
Groove Candy Red Flat - $29.00 Candy apple red,
with a dainty strap to keep it on your foot as you sit dangling your legs over
that wall down by the river. |

BCBG MAX AZRIA Brice Wedges - $177.00 Okay, we cheated
a little with these; they're more coral than red. But what a fun take on preppiness! |

Pazzo 'Nassau' Slingback - $79.95 Vampy red-tinged
snake print on a chunky brown sole. Very 70s, very much in need of hotpants to
wear with them. |

MARC BY MARC JACOBS '673879' Sandal - $295.00 Not
for the faint of heart, these suede stunners are perfect for creating a grown-up
Little Bo Peep look. Wrap the straps up your legs and watch heads turn. |

Jessica Simpson 'Tieve' Sandal - $68.95 A simple
summer sandal in still-hot patent leather. These would look fantastic with tanned
legs. |

Chinese Laundry 'Twins' Sandal - $64.95 1940s styling
meets a 1970s shape. Amazing for a night out, as the thick heel will provide ample
support for dancing. |

Dolce Vita Roma Canvas Wedge in Red - $94.00 Complement
a crisp sailor-inspired outfit with these tomato-hued wedges by Dolce Vita. |

From
vintage lucite stones to luminous futuristic gems,Coquito Designs Jewelry
will have you spellbound. We
were smitten by jewelry designer Kristen Berge's work the moment we laid eyes
on it at the friendly-feeling CoquitoDesigns.com. Every piece breathes a kind
of beautiful strength - especially Kristen's necklaces, categorized as either "bold"
or "delicate" for shopping ease. Her new spring collection, featuring vintage
lucite beads with a frosty quality (see the Reid 2 necklace below) is about to
be launched, so now is the perfect time to check Coquito
Designs out. We love the fact that Kristen's pieces run the gamut
from 1950s cool to warrior princess-esque. We'll be wearing her jewelry with our
trapeze-cut tops and day dresses this spring.

Layering Pieces | |
Around
mid-February, you start to realize that you really do need to embrace layering
a little more. If you see snow outside your window right now, a sweater is not
going to cut it. You need something else next to your skin to keep toasty, and
it can be very tempting to just throw on any old threadbare tank top or tee. But
if you want to be warm and stylish, you need extra-special layering pieces.
They have to be non-bulky, have a flattering cut, and feel soft. So don't
just buy the first white tank you see. We've reviewed five prime winter layering
candidates that we love for different reasons (and that you can keep wearing into
spring). Read on for the details.
Signature Tank by The Underground Darling ($30.00)
Best pick for: Sneaky layering and "home alone" moments. The
Signature Tank is the vamp of the bunch. Made of power knit nylon, it's a daringly
see-through option that will make you feel unstoppably feminine when you put it
on. We liked it because the plunging neckline allows you to wear it as an extra
layer under virtually anything (even an evening dress). Buy
it now at The Underground Darling.
Ocean Drive Long Tank Top ($21.00) Best
pick for: Multipurpose wear 100% cotton, with a narrow rib pattern,
flattering scoop, and a fabulous, nipped-at-the-waist fit. Our tester ended up
wearing this tank out for a night of dancing, so clearly it's for more than just
the gym. Buy
it now at National Jean Company.
C&C California Long Classic Bold Tank ($45.00)
Best pick for: Really bundling up; larger-chested girls A supersoft,
finely ribbed tank with a fun Grecian-inspired neckline, wide straps, and a semi-sporty
back. Its extended length (it hit at mid-thigh for our 5'6" tester) makes
it great for sealing the warm air in under your coat. Buy
it now at National Jean Company.

Generra Tank (€32)
Best
pick for: When black or white tanks get boring We tried this tank in
"Shadow", a beautiful mushroom-hued neutral that works with black, brown, or denim.
This is the most "featherweight" of the tanks we sampled. It practically floats
on the torso. Another point of note: The ingenious neckline somehow made our somewhat
small-chested tester instantly look a cup size bigger! Buy
it now at Misamu.
Splendid Superfine Vest in Navy (€27)
Best pick for: Under a blazer at the office A silky, bodyskimming
tank made by the experts at Splendid. This tank feels substantial and professional,
but would also look great with a pair of short shorts or a box-pleat skirt come
summertime.
Buy it now at Misamu.
Saint Grace Pointelle Tank ($36.00)
Best pick for:
Feeling truly cozy (requires another layer on top; is a bit see-through) The
cut of this tank is absolutely killer. Hugs you in all the right places, falls
to an enjoyable hip length, and feels a bit like cashmere. Saint Grace is known
for creating comfortable clothing with feminine shaping, and this tank is no exception.
Buy
it now at Romeo and Bella, where Lady Licorice readers get 15%
off with code licorice

Rachel Roy Kate Silk Dress Retro-elegant heaven,
with a cherry on top! The cut of this dress couldn't possibly be more gorgeous,
and don't even get us started on the fresh lime color. We very badly wish we had
$1,245.00 sitting in the bank to make it ours. $1,245.00 at Net-A-Porter.
